Tata Motors will publicly unveil the new Zica on 1st December in Goa.

Following a set of fully revealing spyshots, Tata Motors has released first official images of its upcoming Zica hatchback. Identified earlier by its codename Kite, the Tata Zica is based on a completely revamped XO platform and would be built alongside the Nano at the company’s Sanand manufacturing facility.

The Zica (ZIppy CAr) is touted to be the spiritual successor to the Indica eV2 which is currently reduced to a taxicab. With a brand new design direction inside and outside, new engines and a new marketing campaign under the Made of Great banner, the Zica aims to connect with the younger urban audience.

The Zica’s fresh design is going to play a major role its success.

The hatchback’s marketing materials will feature ace Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi who has just been appointed as Tata Motors’ global brand ambassador. The car will pickup a fight against the Maruti Celerio, Chevrolet Beat and Hyundai Grand i10.

Powertrain details have not been confirmed yet but a 1.2-litre petrol and a new 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel engine are expected to be the options. A manual transmission will be standard but AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) could be on offer as well.

Global ambassador and revetron engine… I get all of that

What I don’t get is why does it have to look like cousins of Indica!?!

While Bolt/Zest looked like Indica, this does not!
