While an earlier report suggested that the Tata Zica will be launched on January 20, Autocar India says that the new hatchback will go on sale in mid-February. Bookings of the small car is expected to commence during Auto Expo 2015 in the first week of next month.
Based on a heavily re-engineered XO platform, the Zica is a spiritual successor to the Indica eV2 which would continue catering to the taxi market. To be positioned below the Bolt, the Zica will be pitted against the likes of hot selling Maruti Celerio and Hyundai Grand i10. The new Tata small car carries a huge responsibility of turning the tide for the company.
The Zica’s new styling inside out, best-in-class features, and the new 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines are its strong selling points. A competitive pricing is expected to put the new product at a comfortable position in the market. To create a buzz, Tata Motors has signed up ace Argentine footballer Lionel Messi as its brand ambassador. The marketing campaign is titled ‘Made Of Great’.
