Elon Musk couldn’t have asked for a better start for the most affordable Tesla! The Tesla Model 3 electric sedan made its world premiere in Californio yesterday an hour after the official bookings started. It’s just been a day and the car has already garnered an overwhelming 232,000 orders. It’s worth noting that each order costs USD 1,000 so, Tesla is sitting on top of a huge pile of cash now!
The order books are open in several countries including India. It’s being reported that a few of those bookings came from our country. Elon Musk has assured that global deliveries will commence in 2017. We expect it to progress in a phased manner starting with the US and Europe. The RHD variant for markets like India is likely to be ready by 2018 if things go as per plan.
The car which is priced at USD 35,000 (around INR 23.23 lakhs) looks set to take Tesla to a whole new league in the auto industry. Positioned to take on the conventional premium sedans like the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Mercedes C Class, Jaguar XE, etc., the pure electric Model 3 will rely on its zero emission credentials and high performance. The Tesla Model 3 can accelerate from 0-60 kmph in under 6 seconds.
.@elonmusk congrats, exciting times!
