The best selling car of July’20 was the Maruti Alto. It sold 13,654 units in July’20 when compared with 11,577 units in July’19. The 7th car on the list was the Ertiga which registered sales of 8,504 units in Jul’20. The Eeco from Maruti tailed Ertiga closely to land up at the 8th spot with total sales of 8,501 units in the previous month. The 9th & 10th cars on the list were the Hyundai Grand i10 and Kia Seltos, respectively.

Analysis

Overall, there were 5 cars which crossed the 10K monthly sales mark. Out of these top 10 selling cars, Maruti dominated the overall chart. Maruti had 7 cars in the list while Hyundai had 2. Kia too managed to squeeze itself in the list with the 10th spot with the Seltos.

It is a positive sign to see sales slowly picking up in the month of July’20. With the economy opening up, sales have slowly started to move towards pre-Corona levels. However, it is too early to assert that sales have normalized. It would still take at least 3-4 more good consistent months to draw any conclusion.
