
India’s passenger vehicle market closed December 2025 on a strong note, with healthy demand across hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs, reflected in robust year-on-year growth among the country’s best-selling models. The top 10 cars together recorded cumulative sales of 1,80,758 units in December 2025, up sharply by 30.65 percent compared to 1,38,357 units in December 2024, highlighting a broad-based recovery driven by festive demand carryover, year-end offers and improved supply.
Top 10 Cars Dec 2025
Maruti Baleno emerged as the highest-selling car in the country in December 2025 with 22,108 units, registering a massive 142.6 percent year-on-year growth. Close behind was Maruti Fronx with 20,706 units, nearly doubling its sales compared to last year.

Tata Nexon and Nexon EV together secured third place with 19,375 units, posting a strong 43 percent growth, underlining the continued popularity of compact SUVs with both ICE and electric options. Maruti Dzire and Swift followed next with 19,072 units and 18,767 units respectively, both delivering solid double-digit growth.

Top 15 SUVs Dec 2025
SUVs continued to dominate buyer preference in December 2025, with the top 15 SUVs together clocking 1,79,357 units, marking a strong 35.04 percent growth over December 2024. Fronx led the SUV charts with 20,706 units, followed closely by Nexon and Nexon EV at 19,375 units.

Brezza and Punch retained their strong positions, while Scorpio (Classic and N) recorded healthy growth at over 30 percent year-on-year. Hyundai Creta and Creta EV together delivered 13,154 units, maintaining their position among the most popular mid-size SUVs. Bolero saw a significant jump in demand, nearly doubling its volumes, while Sonet recorded one of the highest growth rates in the segment at over 180 percent year-on-year.

Newer and niche offerings such as Victoris also added incremental volumes, while Exter remained a stable contributor in the entry-SUV space.
Overall, December 2025 reinforced the continued shift towards SUVs in India, while also showing that well-established hatchbacks and sedans continue to command strong buyer interest when backed by value, brand trust and timely updates.
