Scooter sales continued to be buoyant, with top 10 registering 3.94% growth in February
As may be recalled, the top ten scooters had registered YoY growth of 5.26% in January 2021. In February, total sales of top ten scooters was 4.3 lakh units. Sales during the corresponding period last year were 4.14 lakh units.
Activa leads, but growth slackens
Honda Activa continues to be the most preferred scooter with 2,09,389 units sold in February 2021. However, YoY growth has turned negative at -6.09%, as compared to 2,22,961 units sold in February last year. Activa commanded a market share of 50.52% in February 2021. Activa leads by such a huge margin that even the total sales of remaining nine scooters does not equal Activa sales.
At number two is TVS Jupiter with 52,189 units sold in February 2021. YoY sales have improved by an impressive 66%, as compared to 31,440 units sold in February last year. Jupiter’s market share in February was 12.59%. The scooter is currently the second bestselling product in TVS portfolio, next only to TVS XL moped.
Suzuki Access comes third with 48,496 units sold in February 2021. YoY sales are down -3.21%, as compared to 50,103 units sold in February last year. Market share is at 11.70%. Access is currently the top selling two wheeler in Suzuki’s portfolio. It is ahead of other Suzuki two wheelers such as Burgman, Gixxer, and Intruder by a huge margin.
TVS Ntorq is placed 4th with sales of 24,555 units sold in Feb 2021. This is a growth of 7.86% against Feb 2020, when TVS sold 22,766 units of the Ntorq.
Honda Dio is placed at fifth place with 28,171 units sold in February 2021. YoY sales have improved by a modest 6.33%, as compared to 26,494 units sold in February last year. Dio market share is at 6.80%. In the company’s portfolio, Dio is the third bestselling product, trailing behind Activa and CB Shine.
At number 6th is Hero Pleasure with 23,106 units sold in February 2021. YoY sales have leaped by a whopping 173.93%, as compared to 8,435 units sold in February last year. Market share is at 5.58%. Pleasure is the top selling scooter in the company’s portfolio.

Other scooters in top ten include Yamaha RayZR (13,812 units) at 7th place, followed by Hero Destini (12,031), Fascino (10,228) and Suzuki Burgman (8,533). All except Fascino have registered positive YoY growth in February 2021.
Fascino sales have taken a big hit at -60.22%. Sales are down from 25,709 units in February last year to 10,228 units in February 2021. Destini sales are up 64.72%, as compared to 7,304 units sold in February last year.
