Scooters have a dedicated, as well as growing customer base considering the wide number of people who can use them across age groups. For the top selling scooters in the top 10 list, June 2019 results are mixed. Win some. Lose some.
Honda Activa continues to rule the roost at the top of the list. This despite a sales decline of 19.01 percent. Sales are down to 2,36,739 units in June 2019 from 2,92,294 units sold in June 2018.
TVS Jupiter remains seated at 2nd spot following a 5.10 percent sales decline. June 2019 sales stood at 56,254 units, down from 59,279 units sold in June 2018. Suzuki Access sales have gained a spot at 3rd spot on the back of 28.77 percent sales growth. Sales for the month are up at 49,366 units in June 2019, up from 38,338 units sold in June 2018.
Honda Dio sales have slipped to 4th spot from 3rd spot. Sales growth is reported at 7.39 percent. June 2019 sales stand at 43,749 units, up from 40,738 units. TVS Ntorq sales have gained two positions up at 5th spot. Sales growth stands at 26.36 units. June 2019 sales is up at 21,738 units from 17,203 units sold in June 2018.
Yamaha Fascino sales have stayed steady at 6th on the list despite 9.86 percent sales decline. June 2019 sales is down at 15,519 units from 17,216 units sold in June 2018. Hero Destini is listed 7th on the list. It did not feature in the top 10 list in 2018 June.
Yamaha Ray has gained a spot at 8th despite 13.85 percent sales decline. June 2019 sales is reported at 10,696, down from 12,416 units sold in June 2018. TVS Scooty Pep+ sales remain on 9th spot in the face of 12.39 percent sales decline. Sales were down to 10,631 units last month from 12135 units sold in June 2018.
In terms of sales decline percentage, Honda Grazia is down a whopping 51.53 percent. But considering its sales base was at 21,432 units in June 2018 when the scooter stood 5th in the list of top scooters, June 2019 sales volume is down to 10,388 units. That sees the volume difference between the last three on the list within about 300 units.
In all, sales volume for the top 10 on the list has contracted by 8.74 percent. Total sales volume is down to 4,66,372 units in June 2019 from 5,11,051 units in June 2018.
