Sedans posted a strong year-on-year recovery in November 2025, even as month-on-month volumes dipped slightly. Total sedan sales stood at 35,039 units, compared to 24,154 units in November 2024, translating into a 45.06% YoY growth. However, compared to October 2025, sales declined by 5.84%, indicating some cooling after festive-season momentum.

Maruti Dzire Dominates the Segment

Maruti Dzire continued to be the undisputed leader of the sedan segment. With 21,082 units sold in November 2025, Dzire alone accounted for a major chunk of overall sedan volumes. This marked a massive 78.98% YoY growth over November 2024 and a modest 1.4% MoM increase over October 2025. Dzire’s strong showing highlights how entry-level and affordable sedans are still finding wide acceptance among Indian buyers.

Hyundai Aura retained second position with 5,731 units, posting a healthy 34.91% YoY growth, though sales dipped marginally by 1.44% MoM. Honda Amaze followed with 2,763 units, registering a mild 5.14% YoY increase, but saw a sharper 23.88% MoM decline, suggesting demand normalization after higher October dispatches.

Mid-Size Sedans: Mixed Performance

Among mid-size sedans, Volkswagen Virtus delivered a strong performance with 2,225 units, growing 52.71% YoY, despite a 9.29% MoM drop. Skoda Slavia reported 1,120 units, remaining largely flat YoY with a marginal 0.97% decline, while seeing a sharper 32.04% MoM fall. Hyundai Verna continued to face pressure, recording 709 units, down 41.55% YoY and 13.96% MoM, indicating sustained softness in demand.

Premium Sedans and EVs: Niche but Notable

Honda City sales stood at 605 units, declining 14.67% YoY, though it managed a small 4.67% MoM increase. Tata Tigor and Tigor EV combined sales fell sharply to 488 units, reflecting a 43.19% YoY and 59.2% MoM decline. On the premium end, Toyota Camry posted 222 units, growing 70.77% YoY, while Skoda Octavia registered 94 units, marking its return to meaningful volumes after negligible sales in October.

Overall, November 2025 proved positive for sedans on a YoY basis, driven primarily by strong demand for compact and affordable models. However, the MoM decline suggests that sedan volumes may stabilise rather than accelerate further, especially with continued consumer preference for SUVs. That said, the strong Dzire-led performance shows that sedans still have relevance, particularly in value-focused segments of the market.
