Maruti Dzire first, Swift second in June 2018 – Top 25 car sales in India

Maruti Suzuki India Limited once again commanded a major portion of the list of top 25 selling passenger cars in June 2018. The DZire at the top of the list saw sales jump 103% from 12,049 units in June 2017 to 24,465 units in June 2018.

Sales of the Swift, in second place, saw sales increase 84% to 18,171 units from 9,902 units sold in the same month of the previous year. The next three spots on the list were commanded by Alto, Baleno and WagonR.

Alto sales increased 22% to 18,070 units, Baleno sales were up 97% at 17,850 units while sales of the WagonR increased 11,311 units, up 6% as against 10,668 units sold in June 2017.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was at No.8 on list of top 25 passenger vehicles sold last month with a 29% increase in sales from 8,293 units in June 2017 to 10,713 units in the past month. Omni and Celerio at No. 12 and 13 saw sales increase 40% and 3% respectively.

6,573 units of Omni and 6,570 units of Celerio were sold last month. Eeco at No. 16, saw a 24% increase in sales from 4,523 units in June 2017 to 5,612 units in June 2018. Maruti Suzuki Ignis, sold through the company’s NEXA outlets was at No. 18 and saw a 24% increase in sales to 4,514 units.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga at a No. 19 spot on the list saw sales dip 12% to 4,311 units from 4,895 units sold in the same month of the previous year. This could be due to the new Ertiga facelift set for launch. Finally among the Maruti Suzuki models stood the S-Cross at No.23 with a 1,711% increase in sales. Sold through NEXA outlets, there were just 228 units sold in June 2017 which jumped to 4,128 units in June 2018.

Hyundai i20 Elite, Creta and i10 Grand along with the EON, Xcent and Verna were also on the list of best 25 passenger cars sold in June 2018. The Elite and Creta saw sales to the extent of 11,262 units and 11,111 units in the past month, up 6% and 73% respectively. The i10 Grand at No. 9 saw sales dip 16% from 12,317 units sold in June 2017 to 10,343 units in June 2018. Sales of EON at No. 20 stayed at much the same levels at 4,270 units sold in June 2018 while sales of the Xcent at No. 21 were up 23% from 3,425 units sold in June 2017 to 4,199 units sold in the past month. Hyundai Verna, though at the last spot on the list of top 25 best selling cars in June 2018 experienced a 1,097% increase in sales to 3,901 units.

Honda Amaze at No. 10 was the sole model from the company to feature on this list with a 663% increase in sales from 1,193 units sold in June 2017 to 9,103 units sold in the past month.

Tata Motors had the Tiago and Nexon at Nos. 11 and 22. Tiago sales increased 53% from 5,438 units in June 2017 to 8,327 units in the past month while Nexon sales were at 4,148 units in June 2018.

Toyota Innova Crysta sales surged 502% with sales of 6,426 units in June 2018 as compared to sales of 1,068 units in June 2017.

Renault Kwid at No.17 experienced a 9% dip in sales to 4,939 units in the past month from 5,439 units in the same month of the previous year.

Mahindra and Mahindra had a sole offering on the list with the Bolero experiencing a 1% decrease in sales to 6,229 units.

Ford EcoSport was at No. 24 with a 21% increase in sales to the extent of 4,007 units sold in the past month.
