On the list of top cars sold in November 2019, Maruti Suzuki Swift ruled the charts, with a total of 19,314 units sold as against 22,191 units sold in November 2018. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno, DZire, Alto and WagonR continued in quick succession with all except the WagonR at No. 5 on the list, noting positive sales. WagonR sales increased as much as 30 percent to 14,650 units in November 2019 as against 11,311 units sold in November 2018.

Kia Seltos, launched in India earlier this year, has also made it to the top of the list where the mid size SUV segment is concerned but featured at No. 6 on the list of top selling 50 cars in the country. Its sales stood at 14,005 units, steadily increasing month after month since launch. The fact that this new automaker is positioned ahead of stalwarts such as Toyota, Tata, Honda, Renault and Renault is a notable achievement indeed.

Maruti Suzuki again took over the 7th and 8th spot on the list with Vitara Brezza and the newly launched S-Presso. Brezza sales dipped 16 percent to 12,033 units in the past month as against sales of 14,378 units in November 2018 while S-Presso has managed sales of 11,220 units way ahead of more established models such as the Hyundai i20 and i10 Grand and Venue and the Honda Amaze.

It may also be noted that Maruti Suzuki has announced a price hike from January 2020 across all models sold via its Arena and Nexa outlets due to rising input costs and upgrades of engines to comply with the stringent BS6 emission standards. Maruti Suzuki also found the Eeco, Ertiga and Celerio on this list lower down the order. Eeco sales increased 36 percent to 10,162 units in the past month while sales of the Ertiga increased 18 percent to 7,537 units. Celerio was at No.15 with sales down 21 percent in the past month.

Hyundai Cars India saw the i20 Elite, i10 Grand, Venue and Santro on this list in the past month with the i20 Elite and i10 Grand at Nos. 9 and 10 respectively. Though Elite i20 sales dipped 1 percent, sales of the i10 Grand surged by 10 percent to 10,186 units. The Venue was at No.12 with a total of 9,665 units dispatched in the past month but sales of the recently resurrected Hyundai Santro were disappointing with sales down 57 percent to 3,851 units as compared to sales of 9,009 units sold in the same month of the previous year. The new Santro was launched in October 2018.

The new Renault Triber made its way to this list in a big way. Launched in India in August 2019, sales in November were highest till date, at 6,071 units.

Mahindra had the Bolero and Scorpio on the list with the Bolero noting marginally lower sales as compared to sales in November 2018. Sales of the Scorpio increased 33 percent to 3,878 units in the past month as against sales of 2,906 units sold in the same month of the previous year.

Tata Motors had the Tiago and Nexon at Nos.18 and 22 respectively. Both these models noted lower sales when compared to that of November 2018. Renault Kwid at No.19 also suffered lower sales along with the Toyota Innova and Honda Amaze. MG Hector was at No 25 for best selling cars in November with sales of 3,239 units. MG Motors now looks ahead to the launch of the ZS EV next prior to the three row Hector sometime next year to expand its growth.
