Tork T6X electric motorcycle was launched by Pune-based Tork Motorcycles. It is the first fully-electric motorcycle in the country. This makes it first of its kind motorcycle in India, and that too made in India.
The motorcycle is categorized under Central Government’s FAME – Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles and is hence entitled to subsidies. It is priced at INR 1.25 lakhs (promotional / introductory price).
Tork T6X receives TIROS – Tork Intuitive Response Operating System, has gone through extensive research of over 7 years and is ideally suited for urban commuting. The electric motor powered by a lithium battery pack delivers 27 Nm peak torque and a top speed of 100 kmph.
Tork T6X electric motorcycle weighs a total of 130 kgs. It is powered by lithium-ion batteries allowing upto 100 kms on a single charge. The batteries can be fully charged in 2 hours, while it takes just 1 hour to get 80% of charge. Some of the awesome features on offer are – 4.3 inch digital instrument cluster with touchscreen / navigation, app connectivity via smartphone, cloud connectivity, utility storage space (helmets, etc), custom riding modes (It can be tuned from sport drive to eco-cruiser at the touch of a button), ABS, anti-theft and day-time running lights etc.
The company claims that Tork T6X is equivalent to a regular 200 cc petrol powered bike. The bike is being introduced in three markets of Pune, Bengaluru and Delhi for a start while the company is also setting up charging infrastructure in these markets so that if you need to charge your motorcycle enroute, you can do it with ease. Tork has a total of 6 charging points across Pune and Lonavala. They plant to add 100 points across Pune, Bangalore and Delhi by the end of this year.
