The Japanese automaker is keen to assess public response to the new Toyota Alphard MPV which is on display at the 2018 Auto Expo. The company will also check feasibility of such a segment wherein the Toyota Alphard is being targeted for premium fleet and luxury tour operators in the country.
Toyota Alphard is a larger and more luxurious MPV as compared to the Innova Crysta. It is pegged as Toyota’s premium MPV and will be brought into India via the completely knocked down (CKD) kit which could put it in a premium price bracket even higher than the Toyota Fortuner.
Toyota Alphard is an 8 seater MPV. It measures five meters in length and command a strong and sophisticated exterior design and luxurious interior features. It will be viewed at the Auto Expo with a host of safety features among which will be blind corner, back guide monitoring system and radar cruise control.
Engine specifications could be the same as those seen on the Toyota Camry Hybrid. This 2.5 liter petrol engine gets an electric motor thus making it a hybrid unit which will have combined power of 202 bhp.
For international markets, the Toyota Alphard is offered in two petrol engines and one hybrid unit. The 2.5 liter four cylinder petrol engine offers 179 bhp power and 235 Nm torque while the 3.5 liter V6 engine offers 297 bhp power and 361 Nm torque. It comes in mated with an 8 speed automatic or CVT transmission with the hybrid version having only a CVT powertrain.
