Toyota Fortuner post GST variant-wise price list revealed
Toyota Fortuner was launched last year in India. It is the best selling car in the segment.
The introduction of GST regulations has brought cheer to luxury and premium car buyers in the country. Toyota Fortuner is one such vehicle which has seen reduction in prices. Offered in the premium SUV segment, it will see prices reduced to the extent of INR 2.68 lakhs as it attracts 43% cess under the GST regulations.
Toyota Fortuner all wheel drive AT variant which is priced at INR 32 lakhs will be priced around INR 29 lakhs less with a decrease in existing taxes to be about 5.5%. As per the new GST structure, automobiles will attract 28% tax with cell in the range of 1-15% according to length and engine power.
Toyota Fortuner is powered by a 2.8 liter diesel engine offering 177 PS peak power at 3,400 rpm and 450 Nm torque at 1,600-2,400 rpm mated to a 6 speed automatic gearbox. The manual versions offer the same power but 30 Nm less torque. The 2.7 liter, four cylinder dual VVTi petrol engine offers 166 bhp power and 245 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual or 6 speed automatic transmission.

GST has replaced as many as 17 indirect central and state tax levies. In the automobile segment, cars in the sub 4 meter category will attract 1% cess for petrol models less than 1200cc and 3% for diesel cars. This changes GST rates to 29% and 31% respectively.
Taxes on midsized cars and SUVs over 4 meters in length and having engines smaller than 1500cc will remain at 43% however, where larger cars and SUVs with engines above 1500cc there will be a reduction in taxes from 50% to 43% which includes 28% GST and 15% cess.
