Toyota Fortuner SUV with 5 speed AT launched at Rs 22.33 lakhs


Toyota launched the Fortuner SUV in India back in 2009. Till date, they have sold over 41,000 units of Fortuner, which is the segment leader in the Indian auto industry. Today, they announced that the existing Fortuner 4×2 AT with 4 speed will be replaced with 5 Speed gearbox.

In the last six months, they have sold 7569 units, which is a mammoth 70% of the total market share in the segment. Toyota Bharat, the Indian arm of Toyota Motors, will begin accepting bookings of the new Fortuner 4×2 Automatic with 5 speed gearbox from the 18th of January across all authorized dealerships in India.

Apart from launching the new Fortuner 5 speed AT, Toyota also announced the introduction of Fortuner TRD Sportivo in MT and 5 speed AT options with a price tag of Rs 21.96 lakhs and Rs 22.93 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Trd Sportivo will now be available as a regular grade, and is no longer a limited edition. Toyota has also introduced an All New Pearl White Mica colour across all Foruner models in India.

Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, Marketing and Commercial, Toyota India said,  said “Further adding to Fortuner’s strength of unmatched road presence and luxury, we have now introduced the 5 speed automatic transmission. The 4×2 automatic transmission is extremely popular, it has been highly appreciated by the customers. The 5 speed AT will further add to the drive quality and comfort.”

“We introduced the Fortuner TRD Sportivo as a limited edition in October last year. Looking at the overwhelming response and its popularity, we have now regularized this grade for all those looking for a unique sporty image. The bookings will open starting 18thJan 2013. We thank all our customers for their response because of which Fortuner continues to be an undisputed leader ever since its launch in 2009 in India.”
