Toyota Fortuner TRD Edition features detailed in official Video

The Toyota Fortuner has been well received in India and has recorded sales of over 1.6 lakh units over the past decade. To celebrate this, the 2019 TRD Celebration Edition is launched. Images credit to Roshan Joseph Youtube channel Pilot on Wheels.

This new edition is based on the 4X2 AT diesel variant. It carries a price tag of Rs.33.85 lakhs as against the regular Fortuner 4X2 AT diesel which is priced at Rs.31.68 lakhs.

Where on board changes are concerned, the Celebration Edition gets a new Pearl White colour scheme with a contrasting black roof. It sports distinctive red coloured TRD badging on the front grille and gets a new bumper with faux skid plate, new all black 18” alloy wheels and new rear bumper.

The dual tone colours continued to the interiors which sport a maroon and black colour scheme extending across its dashboard. It also gets distinctive TRD logos on its maroon and black seats with contrasting stitching elements enhancing its sporty appeal while all other features remain unchanged.

These include a 7” touchscreen infotainment system, a large TFT multi information display unit, touchscreen audio with capacitive switches with AUX In, 6 speakers NAVI and DVD.

2019 Fortuner TRD also gets safety features that include a total of 7 airbags, ABS, EBD, hill start assist, smart key with push button start/stop, 8 way driver and co-driver power seat, parking assist and monitor with rear sensors. It also gets a fully automatic tailgate with height adjustable memory, jam protection, electric adjustable ORVMs, Eco and Power drive modes and reverse camera.

Engine specifications on the 2019 Toyota Fortuner TRD Celebration Edition remain unchanged. It continues to be powered by the same 2.8 liter diesel engine that powers the standard Fortuner. This engine offers 177 hp peak power and450 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission. It does not receive any manual transmission and also misses out on optional 4×4 drive system. It competes against the Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 and Isuzu MU-X.

The new Fortuner TRD Celebration Edition is expected to add some spark to sales of the automaker which has seen its sales volumes dip as much as 24 percent YoY in August 2019. The company also wishes to clear out existing BS IV stocks prior to the arrival of BS VI products ahead of the 1st April 2020 deadline.
