Toyota HyRyder Price Hike May 2023

After increasing the prices in April 2023, Toyota has increased prices of HyRyder SUV once again in May 2023

Armed with first-in-segment strong hybrid tech, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara have emerged as popular options in compact SUV segment. While Grand Vitara has raced to the second spot beating Kia Seltos, Hyryder has taken a lead over Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor. Hyundai Creta continues to be the segment leader.

High demand for Hyryder could be another reason why Toyota may have implemented the higher pricing. Hyryder currently has waiting period of up to 20 months. Toyota also provides Grand Vitara to Maruti, which puts additional pressure on supply. Toyota is working to increase production at its manufacturing facility in Bidadi, Karnataka. Across its portfolio, the company has bookings of more than 1.20 lakh units (end-March 2023).

Top-spec V Hybrid variant continues to be priced same as before, at Rs 19.74 lakh.

Hyryder new prices are now closely aligned with that of its sibling, Maruti Grand Vitara. Base-spec Vitara Smart Hybrid Sigma 1.5L 5MT is available at a starting price of Rs 10.70 lakh. Top-spec Vitara Intelligent Electric Hybrid Alpha+ 1.5L CVT variant is priced at Rs 19.79 lakh. This makes it slightly costlier than top-spec Hyryder.

With almost similar pricing, consumers have more freedom to choose the brand they might prefer. Price will have a limited role to play in terms of whether a buyer chooses Hyryder or Grand Vitara. Available features, sales and service experience and dealer-level offers will now have a larger role in influencing purchase decisions.
