It seems logical that next generation Toyota Innova, riding on new platform, will be a more premium product than current version, which will make it pricier. Current Innova maintains around 5,000 sales every month, with good balance of demand from commercial and private sectors. Although 2016 Innova will take almost end of 2016 if not early 2017 to launch in India, the MPV is expected to retain its sales momentum to an extent till then.So it may not be in the company’s intentions to phase out the hot selling model for the new gen Innova to take its place, which would also be more expensive. So while retaining the existing version, Toyota is said to be tearing off higher variants from the brochure, which is natural, and renaming the model as Toyota Innova Cross.
Understandably, the expected Innova Cross model would add plastic lower-body cladding all around to the current version and receive some revision to grille, lamps and bumpers. No further change can be expected, except for tweaks in interiors, if this Toyota Innova Cross does materialise.
Engine options will remain same as existing Innova for Innova Cross – 2.0l petrol generating 132 hp and 2.5l diesel generating 103 hp. For 2016 Innova, the company will offer retuned engines, to deliver more power, and better efficiency.
