The rock hit from a great height causing immense damage, but luckily no loss of life
There is no doubt that Toyota Innova is a strong car. But a car is still a car and no matter how safe it is built, there is no car in the world which offers 100% safety of life. That does not mean that one should not care for safety, and buy unsafe cars. One should always buy a car with a good safety rating / build quality.
What happened?
In the case of this particular Toyota Innova Crysta, it was driving in the Sangla Valley in Himachal Pradesh. Suddenly, a heavy rock came crashing through the roof. It pierced the roof and left a gaping hole, falling to the rear right hand side of the Innova Crysta.
Luckily there was no one seated there as the occupant had just exited the vehicle 10 minutes prior to the incident. The rock fell with great force from a hill along the roadside, onto the seat breaking the hood light on impact.
The rock then went on to damage the seat, tearing the seat cover right down to the sponge while the door was also damaged along with the door lining, wiring and bottle holder. There is also a dent on the right side of the roof which is clearly visible. There was also a crack across the front windscreen, though how that occurred is not yet ascertained.

The remaining occupants, who were sitting inside the car when rock entered cabin, were shellshocked. They were quick to exit the car after the incident. They inspected the damage and were thankful that none of them were injured.
Had there been a person sitting at the right rear section of the MPV, he would have been seriously injured or could have met with an even worse fate. The owners then called up the Toyota dealership and received immediate response.

They took photographs of the damage caused and were assured of full insurance cover since the accident occurred due to natural calamities. The total cost of repairs was informed to the owner while the dealership confirmed that all damaged parts would be replaced.
The dealership also advised the owner to get the pillars replaced. This shows the quick response from the company and their endeavour to carry out repairs in a timely manner.
Toyota Innova Crysta and the Fortuner are volume sellers for the company. In June 2020, Toyota also hiked prices of the Toyota Innova Crysta, Glanza, Yaris and Fortuner while the prices of the Vellfire and Camry hybrid cars saw no price hike. The BS6 Innova Crysta is powered by two engine options. These include a 2.7 liter petrol engine and a 2.4 liter turbo diesel engine.
