Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts Pvt. Ltd. held a ceremony at its facility in Bidadi, Bangalore to officially inaugurate its Gasoline Engine and Transmission plant for its ETIOS variant. TKAP currently produces R-type manual transmissions as also propeller shafts and axles for its ‘Fortuner’ and ‘Innova’ models respectively.
In the presence of distinguished guests and dignitaries, Shri. Murugesh R. Nirani, unveiled the commemorative stone which signaled the official inauguration of this plant. The ETIOS variant has been specially designed for the Indian market and with inauguration of this new facility, localization percentage will be as high as 90% for this vehicle. The new pant will offer employment opportunities for about 500 individuals and indirect employment for its supplier chain.
Rapid localization procedures will enable Toyota cut down costs and provide employment for people in India thereby providing customers with quality vehicles at affordable prices. The plant was built at a cost of Rs. 500 crores and boasts of an annual capacity of 1,08,000 units and 2,40,000 units for its engine plant and transmission plant respectively.
