Both Toyota Urban Cruiser EV and Suzuki eVitara are global offerings with launch probability in India around mid 2025

Soon after Suzuki revealed the production-spec model of eVX Concept, eVitara, Toyota took the wraps off its Urban Crossover Concept-based Urban Cruiser EV. This will be a badge-engineered counterpart of Suzuki eVitara as part of the strategic partnership between Toyota and Maruti.

Production for this model will happen in Suzuki’s Gujarat plant in India and will be exported to many global markets. It will make a public debut at 2025 Brussels Show in January next year. Let’s take a look at the final design of production-spec Toyota Urban Cruiser EV.

Another badge-engineered product has emerged from Suzuki Toyota partnership. Called Urban Cruiser EV, it is the Toyota counterpart of recently debuted Suzuki eVitara. This electric SUV from Toyota will be a global product and could launch in India too as the company’s only fully-electric offering.

From what we can see, Toyota has kept the design true to the Urban Crossover concept. Sure, design is a bit watered-down to keep production costs in check. Urban Cruiser EV gets conventional LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs. A black bar connects both headlights. Toyota logo sits proudly above the black bar.

Below the closed-off top grill, we can see a blackened lower bumper with a lower grill. There are air channels in front of the wheel wells that seem to smoothen the airflow. We can see a charging port on front left quarter panel, stylish wheel designs, chunky plastic claddings and a floating roof effect. Rear door handle is on the C Pillar.

At the rear, we get connected tail lights, but the actual lighting elements are not connected. Entire rear bumper is left unpainted. There’s a roof spoiler, a shark-fin antenna and more design elements. Measuring 4,285 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, 1,640 mm in height and has a 2,700 mm long wheelbase. These dimensions make it ever-so-slightly larger than eVitara.

Same Interiors as eVitara

On the inside, Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is almost identical to Suzuki eVitara electric SUV. We get the same floating centre console, 10-inch HUD, 10.1-inch infotainment screen, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, powered driver’s seat, rear sliding and reclining seats, automatic climate control, JBL audio system and more.

Powertrains-wise, Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will get 49 kWh or 61 kWh battery pack options. Larger pack offers a dual-motor 4WD option as well. 2WD variants are primarily FWD with up to a 172 bhp and 189 Nm motor. Larger 61 kWh variants offer 4WD capability with a rear electric motor adding 64 bhp for a total system output of 181 bhp and 300 Nm.
