Toyota Vellfire luxury MPV showcased to dealers in Bangalore before launch

There were talks that Toyota Kirloskar Motor is planning to launch a fully loaded variant of its extremely popular Hiace MPV in India. The automaker even showcased the people mover at last edition of Auto Expo. We are not sure if the Hiace is coming to India or not but we know that Toyota is all set to introduce the even more luxurious Vellfire MPV.

The Toyota Vellfire has been just showcased at a private dealer event in Bangalore. The luxury MPV will be imported into India as a CBU and will be positioned to target high-end tour operators and luxury hotel chains. Of course, a very small group of private customers would also be interested in the lounge on wheels. At the same event, Toyota also showcased the 2019 Fortuner TRD Sportivo.

The Vellfire adopts a bold design philosophy that is characterized by an imposing chrome grille, two-tier LED headlamp clusters, stylish greenhouse, wraparound clear lens LED taillights and so on. Toyota has done its best to distance its flagship people mover as far away as possible from mainstream MPV design.

Inside, the India-bound model will adopt black-flaxen colour theme and will packed with an extensive list of features to justify its steep price tag. The Japanese luxury people mover is equipped with 7 ventilated seats. The middle row gets electrically adjustable captain seats. The occupants will be pampered by means of multi-color ambient lighting, tri-zone automatic climate control, double sunroof, individual seat tables, memory function for seat setting, personal spot lights, and many more.

The Toyota Vellfire employs a charge sustaining hybrid powertrain which is spearheaded by a 2.5-liter 179 hp four-cylinder VVT-i petrol engine mated to a e-CVT. The electric motors enable e-AWD system. Noteworthy features include 7 airbags, Steering assisted Vehicle Stability Control, cornering headlamps, electronic parking brake, 18-inch alloy wheels, powered back door, etc.

The MPV will be pitted against the Mercedes V Class which was recently launched at INR 68.40 lakh. The Vellfire slated for its India launch in September 2019. The uber luxurious MPV is expected to carry a price tag of INR 70-75 lakhs in India. With the Vellfire, Toyota is aiming to establish itself as the go-to brand of people movers across the price spectrum.
