Train rams into a truck at 142 kmph – Video

A video of an accident that occurred in Czech Repuplic last summer has emerged showing what can happen when you don’t abide road laws. A train and truck collide as the driver of the truck failed to take note of the red flashing light and acoustic signal. This failure left 3 passengers dead and 17 injured while the train driver lost his leg. However, the irony of the situation is that the truck driver, whose negligence was the cause of the accident in the first place escaped unhurt.

Released footage of the accident which occurred on 22nd July 2015 in the Czech Republic shows a train colliding with a truck while travelling at a speed of 142 kmph. The truck driver ignored warnings of an approaching train and ventures onto the tracks while the vehicle was trapped between falling gates. Rather than taking a logical decision of ramming through the gates, the truck driver inched his truck a few meters ahead so as to avoid direct impact to the cab, while the trailer, loaded with aluminum sheets remained on the tracks.

The train, which was initially travelling at a speed of 160 kmph, rammed into the truck at a speed of 142 kmph, thanks to the emergency brakes applied by the train driver. The impact resulted in the death of 3 passengers while 17 others were injured. The impact was so severe, that the debris from the crash was found 500 meters away at the Studénka railway station, which also received major damage to one of its platforms.
