Truck rams into Maruti Swift, WagonR at Toll Plaza queue – Video

An out-of-control truck rammed into a Maruti WagonR and Swift at the Toll Plaza in Jammu.

Even as toll plazas across the country are strategically situated and well within the view of approaching vehicles, they are still not safe from stray incidents such as what happened at Ban Toll Plaza in Nagrota, in Jammu and Kashmir.

CCTV footage of the accident which left a supervisor and two drivers injured indicates that it could have been failed brakes in the truck that caused it to crash into the rear of vehicles that had stopped at the gate to pay toll.

The truck, bearing registration number JK02M/3756 came right into the area crashing into a Maruti Suzuki WangonR and Swift. The crash instantly killed a toll booth supervisor, identified as Surjeet Kumar, who was standing between these two vehicles.

The two car drivers had a miraculous escape, with some injuries, from what could have been certain death. The truck was speeding at 100 kmph at the time of the crash and dragged the two cars at the toll plaza for a distance of 20 meters. The body of Kumar was shifted to GMC for post mortem while a hunt is out for the truck driver who fled the scene of the accident.
