TVS receives patent for air-injection system that reduces emission

TVS Motor Co. has received a patent for its new air-injection system which becomes operative when the engine is decelerating. The TVS air-injection system is claimed to reduce emissions and increase fuel efficiency by nullifying the vacuum created when the throttle is closed.

TVS filed for patent in 2008 and the first examination report was issued in 2014. The company was offered a hearing in April 2016 before the patent grant.

The two wheeler maker has also received another patent pertaining to lubrication. As per the company, the new invention produces splash and shower effects using a single drive mechanism, thereby eliminating the need for a separate pump. We expect both these inventions to become vital aspects of the company’s marketing campaign for the upcoming products.

In April 2016, TVS lost its third spot in the market to Bajaj after two long years. The company is currently working on the phase-wise launch of the new Apache RTR 200 4V and Victor. Moving forward, the flagship BMW G 310 R-based fully faired motorcycle is in the pipeline. Previewed by the Akula 310 concept, the final production version would be called as the Apache RTR 300. The next gen versions of the smaller Apache RTR 160 and 180 are also in the works.
