With the launch of TVS Apache 310, the company celebrated 35 years of highly successful run in Indian motorsports. So, it’s only a matter of time before the Hosur-based outfit comes up with track tuned version of its new flagship.
In fact, at the launch event, TVS confirmed that they will be launching a race-spec variant in 2018. This will not only be a more powerful variant, but also come loaded with more new features. This explains why TVS continues to test the Apache 310, even after launch.
The reason the rendering is done in blue-white livery by Pratyush Rout, is because that is the TVS Racing livery, and is seen on all their race bikes, be it domestic TVS Cup bikes or their Dakar bike – all are seen in Blue-White livery. TVS Apache 310 was spied in Blue livery last year, but that colour is not on offer with current variants. It could be because the company plans to launch it with the Race Spec variant later this year.
Speaking about the rendering, it largely derives its cues from the Akula concept which previewed the Apache 310 at the Auto Expo 2016. The race-spec version differs from regular model by forgoing headlamps (for the TVS racing models, road legal variants will get headlights same as current Apache 310) and offering a slightly taller windscreen.
The motorcycle will be underpinned by an aluminium trellis frame and will benefit from numerous lightweight aluminium components. The BMW sourced 312.2 cc reverse inclined single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine would be tuned to produce more power and torque than the stock bike’s 34 PS and 27.3 Nm respectively.
In order to handle the additional performance, TVS Apache 310 Race Spec would be bestowed with stiffer suspension, upgraded brakes and of course, track-spec tyres. It could also get segment first features like updated instrument cluster with smartphone integration, ride modes (Race Mode and Road Mode), changing ride modes using smartphone app, and so on. Expect a bump in price tag over the regular Apache 310.
