TVS Apache RR 310 domestic sales down to 175 units in May 2019

TVS Apache RR 310, the company’s testament to its racing prowess, hasn’t had the greatest sales chart for the current fiscal. But, this is in tandem with current market trends as it’s been a difficult few months for Indian auto manufacturers.

The company’s production numbers are down manifold for the same period last year. TVS Apache RR 310 production in April 2019 is reported at 357 units, down 64.83 percent from 1,001 units manufactured in April 2018. Production for May 2019 is down to 271 units from 1,084 units in May 2018, down 75 percent. For the month of April and May 2019, the numbers stand at 628 units, down from 2085 units produced in April-May 2018, down 69.88 percent.

Because of this, TVS Apache RR 310 domestic sales doesn’t buck the downward tend. April 2019 sales is reported at 183 units, down 78.77 percent from 862 units. May 2019 sales is reported at 175 units, down 70.58 percent from 595 units sold in May 2018. April-May 2019 sales stand at 358 units, down 75.42 percent from 1,457 units sold in April-May 2018.

Exports for the current FY stand at 114 units – 62 units in April 2019; 52 units in May 2019. With that, the company has managed to sell just over 200 units each for the month of April, and May.

TVS Apache RR 310 is presented as a sport bike, and came into existence as a collaboration with BMW Motorrad. Having been launched in December 2017, along its 18 month journey, sales in recent months has dwindled. Apache RR 310 is now available with zero down payment offers or one can avail of a finance plan for the Rs 4,444 EMI. EMI can vary based on city and bank terms. In its 2019 MY avatar, TVS Apache RR 310 costs Rs 2.27 lakhs (ex-showroom), about 3k steeper than its predecessor.

In its new avatar, TVS Apache RR 310 features slipper clutch, and there’s also a colour option – new gloss Phantom Black. Existing owners who have their eyes on the slipper clutch can get it retrofitted at company dealerships for a charge (Rs 3,950).

In its updated form, reduction in vibrations is being dealt with by adding bits. This includes a windscreen rubber lining, heavier bar-end weights, a new chain roller, and an ECU update. Because the changes were introduced late in May 2019, we’ll have to wait for June sales count to see if the updates have had resulted in a positive sales uptick. TVS Apache RR 310 is up against KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300, and Benelli 302R.
