The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is the complete official name of the compact naked sportsbike which has been spotted testing extensively over the last few months. TVS has started releasing teasers ahead of the motorcycle’s premiere on January 20 (Indonesian debut is scheduled on January 21).
The latest teaser reveals the Apache RTR 200 4V’s LED pilot lamps that are integrated into the headlamp cluster. Rest of the motorcycle is still under wraps but we already have a fair idea about its design, thanks to the numerous spyshots.
The sharply styled flagship Apache is powered by an air-and-oil-cooled engine which is expected to displace around 200 cc. The motor which is expected to be based the RTR 180’s unit is estimated to dish out an impressive 26 PS and 22 Nm of torque when mated to a 5-speed transmission. The new TVS street fighter is benchmarked against the more expensive KTM Duke 200 and is said to outperform its rival.
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is the fastest and the more powerful production motorcycle the Indian two wheeler maker has ever developed (soon-to-be-unveiled U69 faired bike is based on BMW G 310 R). With an estimated starting price in the range of INR 85,000-95,000 (ex-showroom), the Apache RTR 200 4V will be hoping make its mark in the fast growing compact sportsbike segment.
