New details of TVS Apache RTR 200 emerges from Indonesia

The liquid-cooling system has been developed with support from BMW Motorrad.

Talking to the Indonesian media, Arun Siddharth, Senior General Manager – Head Marketing Motorcycles, TVS Motors, has revealed a few new details about the TVS Apache RTR 200. The new motorcycle adopts a street fighter design and is currently undergoing its final phase of testing.

According to Iwanbanaran, the official confirmed that the 200 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine will adopt a SOHC 4-valve head. He also revealed that the cooling system for the motorcycle has been developed with support from BMW Motorrad. We expect the motor to have power output of in the region of 25-30 PS.

As the earlier spyshots indicated, most of the design cues come from the Draken concept which was unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo. Mr. Siddharth also confirmed that the new Apache will receive a fully digital instrument console, LED blinkers and taillights, and tubeless tyres.


The new street fighter is expected to be unveiled in early 2016, probably at the Auto Expo in February.

Going by the test prototypes, the Apache RTR 200 is suspended by regular front telescopic forks and a rear monoshock. Both wheels employ a disc brake each and ABS should be offered at a later stage if not from day one.

The new TVS Apache RTR 200 will be pitted against the KTM Duke 200 which has been ruling the market without any direct competition. Expect the pricing to be around INR 1.25 lakhs (ex-showroom).
