TVS NTorq BS6 Deliveries Start – Prices Up By Rs 6.5k

The TVS NTorq BS6 carries no major difference compared to the BS4 model, except for the updated engine.

Rather silently, TVS Motor Company has launched the new BS6-compliant version of the NTorq scooter at a starting price of Rs 65,975 for the base Drum variant; higher than the BS4 model by Rs 6,513. The TVS NTorq BS6 Disc variant is priced at Rs 69,975 (up by Rs 9,980) while the range-topping Race Edition is now dearer by Rs 7,530 at Rs 72,455. All prices mentioned here are ex-showroom.

Besides the changes done to the engine to make it compliant to the updated emission norms, the 2020 TVS NTorq BS6 does not carry any major difference over the outgoing BS4 model. The TVS NTorq is arguably one of the best CVT scooters on the market if you are on the lookout for something sporty and loaded with many class-leading features.

The list includes TVS SmartXonnect smartphone connectivity (via Bluetooth) that incorporates navigation-assist, last-parked location, ride statistics, etc. The instrument console also has a lap timer, 0-60km/h acceleration timer and Power/Eco mode indicator — all for an Indian scooter. The TVS NTorq is easily the best-sounding scooter on the Indian market as well.

The exact specifications of the new TVS NTorq BS6 are yet to be shared officially. We expect the output to be slightly reduced than before, like in the usual case of updating to stringent emission standards. In its outgoing BS4 format, the TVS NTorq churns out 9.1bhp and 10.5Nm of torque from its 124.79cc carburetted air-cooled engine.

The new BS6 model would have replaced the carburettor with an FI system to effectively control the rate of fuel-air mixture going into the engine and thereby provide optimal combustion and lower emissions. The exhaust system may have undergone some re-engineering and compared to the original model, the TVS NTorq BS6 might sport a less-grunty exhaust note. The ‘sports scooter’ from the Hosur-based two-wheeler manufacturer mainly locks horns with the Honda Grazia, Aprilia SR125, Yamaha Ray ZR 125 and many other names in the 125cc scooter category.

With BS6 emission standards coming into effect from April 2020, major brands operating across different segments in the Indian automotive market are busy updating their products to the new norm. Many have also seen this as an opportunity to launch all-new products for a strong start in the new decade. In this regard, TVS Motor Company has introduced the 2020 avatar of its flagship motorcycle, the Apache RR310.
