Hero, Honda, Bajaj, TVS, Royal Enfield, Suzuki – Two Wheeler sales Aug 2018

Hero MotoCorp sales increased 1% in August 2018 with 6,85,047 units of motorcycles and scooters sold during the month as compared to 6,78,797 units sold in the same month of the previous year. It was the Xtreme 200R which made its way to dealerships in the past month while the company looks ahead to launch of two new 125cc scooters, Hero Maestro Edge 125 and Duet 125, which will ensure efficient sale in the coming festive season.

Hero MotoCorp sales between April and August 2018 increased 10% to 34,64,661 units, from 31,41,551 units sold in the 2017 period. The company also contributed towards Kerala flood relief operations and all dealers in the state of Kerala have waived off fees and check up and repair costs while customers will be offered a discount of 30% on purchase of spares till 9th September 2018.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) – HMSI sold 6,14,444 units in August 2018, as compared to 5,86,237 units sold in August 2017. Fiscal YTD sales grew by 9% from 27,27,113 units to 29,67,750 units. Honda’s two-wheeler exports grew 27% from 1,50,438 units to 1,91,521 units in April-August 2018.

Bajaj Auto Limited has clocked the highest ever monthly sales in August 2018. In the past month, the company’s motorcycle sales surged 38% YoY at 3,62,923 units from 2,83,861 units in August 2017. Domestic motorcycle sales increased 27% to from 1,71,664 units in August 2017 to 2,18,437 units while exports rose by 29% from 1,12,197 units in August 2017 to 1,44,486 units in the past month. Total YoY sales which included motorcycles and commercial vehicles surged 30% with 4,37,092 units sold as compared to 3,35,031 units sold in the same month of the previous year, making it the highest ever monthly sales to date.

TVS Motor Company sales in August 2018 increased 8%. During the past month, the company sold 3,43,217 units as compared to 3,17,563 units sold in August 2017 which included domestic sales and exports of both two and three wheelers.

Taking sales of two wheelers into account, the company sold 3,30,076 units in August 2018 as compared to 3,09,146 units sold during August 2017, a surge of 7%. Sales of two wheelers in domestic markets increased by 2% from 2,70,544 units in August 2017 to 2,75,688 units in the past month. Scooter sales stood at 11,26,676 units in August 2018, an increase of 11% as compared to 1,14,354 units sold in August 2017 while motorcycle sales increased 18% from 1,11,927 units sold in August 2017 to 1,31,743 units sold last month.

Royal Enfield sales saw an increase of 2% with 69,377 units sold in August 2018 as against 67,977 units sold in August 2017. Exports however, surged 23% from 1,105 units exported in August 2017 to 1,363 units exported in the past month.

YTD domestic sales of Royal Enfield stands at 3,54,740 units as compared to 3,08,911 units in the same period of last year, a surge of 15% while exports increased 20% with 9,061 units exported to date as compared to 7,523 units exported in the same period of the previous year. Taking overall sales of domestic and exports into account, Royal Enfield has sold a total of 3,63,801 units, an increase of 15% over 3,16,434 units sold in the same period of the previous year.

Suzuki – The month of August 2018 proved to be the best month for Suzuki Motorcycle India with the highest ever monthly sales report. The company experienced an increase of 31% with a total of 62,446 units sold during the past month. It was the company’s 125cc models, Suzuki Access 125 and Suzuki Burgman Street that received the most attention with a total of 55,000 units of models in the 125cc segment sold last month. The period April to August 2018 saw Suzuki Motorcycle India report a 41% increase in sales to 2,67,888 units as compared to sales in the same period of the last year.
