Two Wheeler Sales Feb 2018 – Hero, Honda, Royal Enfield, TVS, Bajaj

Hero MotoCorp – Hero MotoCorp registered a 20% increase in sales during February 2018. The company sold 6,29,597 units in February 2018 as against 5,24,766 units in the same month of the previous year. This is the 9th consecutive month that Hero monthly sales have exceeded the 6 lakh mark.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India – HMSI also posted strong sales in February 2018 with a 32% increase in sales. The company sold 5,19,735 units in the past month as against 3,93,642 units sold in February 2017. Domestic sales increased 32% from 3,70,122 units sold in February 2017 to 4,89,591 units sold last month which was dominated by scooter sales. Taking only scooter sales into account, HMSI sold 3,25,193 scooters in February 2018, an increase of 30% as compared to 2,49,952 units sold during the same month of the previous year. Motorcycle sales increased by 37% from 1,20,170 units sold in February 2017 to 1,64,398 units sold last month. Exports also increased by 28% to 30,144 units as compared to 23,520 units exported in February 2017.

Royal Enfield – RE recorded a 25% increase in overall sales in February 2018 with 73,077 units sold as compared to 58,439 units sold in February 2017. Where domestic sales were concerned, of the company’s product line that included Classic 350, Thunderbird, Continental GT and Himalayan, the company sold 71,354 units in February 2018 as against 56,737 units sold in February 2017. Exports stood at 1,723 units in February 2018 as compared to 1,702 units exported in February 2017. Cumulative sales during the period April 2017 to February 2018 stood at 7,27,021 units, an increase of 23% as compared to sales of 5,92,558 units sold during the same period of the previous year.

The company also announced some improvements to the Classic motorcycle and the new Interceptor 750 and Continental GT 750 were also announced all of which will significantly contribute to company sales in the coming months.

TVS Motor Company – TVS Motors reported a 37% increase in growth in February 2018 with 2,90,673 units sold during the past month. This was against 2,11,470 units sold in February 2018. Two wheeler sales increased 36.2% from 2,06,247 units sold in February 2017 to 2,80,942 units sold in the past month.

Taking only domestic sales of motorcycles into account, the company registered growth of 33.5% with 2,30,353 units sold in February 2018 as compared to 1,72,611 units sold in February 2017. Scooter sales surged 35.6% from 60,020 units sold in February 2017 to 93,573 units sold last month. TVS Motor unveiled two concept two wheelers at the 2018 Auto Expo which included the electric scooter Creon and cruiser Zeppelin.

Bajaj Auto Limited – February 2018 was a good month for Bajaj Auto with regard to domestic sales. The company registered a 23% increase in sales with 1,75,489 units sold in February 2018 as against 1,42,287 units sold in the same month of the previous year. In terms of exports, a growth of 19% was recorded. Bajaj Auto exported 1,22,025 units in February 2018 as against 1,02,671 units exported in the same month of the previous year. Taking domestic sales and exports into account, growth of 21% was reported with a total of 2,97,514 units as against 2,44,958 units in February 2017.

Suzuki Motorcycle India – It marks the first time that Suzuki Motorcycle India has cross the 5 lakh sales mark within a financial year. Cumulative sales from April 2017 to February 2018 stood at 5,22,929 units which included domestic and exports with domestic sales contributing over 86% to sale.

In February 2018, the company’s domestic sales stood at 46,147 units and exports were at 5,936 units taking overall total to 52,083 units. This was against 33,641 units sold in domestic markets in February 2017 resulting in a 37.2% increase in domestic sales.
