Two wheeler sales Nov 2018 – Hero, Bajaj, Honda, Royal Enfield, TVS, Suzuki

Hero MotoCorp, the country’s largest two wheeler maker by volumes registered sales to the extent of 6,10,252 units, once again breaching the 6 lakh unit mark. This was against the 6,05,270 unit sales reported in November 2017. The company had crossed the 7 lakh unit mark in October while in September sales had even surpassed the 7,50,000 mark.

The Hero Destini 125 scooter was launched in November this year marking the company’s entry into the fast growing 125cc segment. Destini 125 is the first and only scooter to feature idle start-stop system. The Maestro Edge 125 scooter is also expected to be launched soon even as the company marks its foray into the premium segment with the XPulse 200 and XPulse 200T. Both these bikes will be priced at around INR 1 lakh.

Bajaj Auto Limited reported a 25% increase in sales in the past month with a total of 4,06,930 sold as compared to 3,26,458 units sold in the same period of the previous year. Domestic sales stood at 2,34,818 units while exports reached 1,72,112 units in November 2018, 31% and 17% higher respectively over sales in the same month of the previous year. Motorcycle sales increased 31% to 3,46,544 units while commercial vehicles reported a dip of 3% to 60,386 units in the past month.

Suzuki Motorcycle India also noted an increase in cumulative sales in November 2018. Total sales increased 13.86% to 56,531 units as compared to 49,647 units sold in the same month of the previous year. Domestic sales stood at 53,058 units in November 2018 as compared to 42,722 units in the same period of the previous year, a growth of 24.19%. This was due to new product launches and an updated product lineup. This year, the company introduced the Burgman Street 125 scooter along with the GSX-S750 and V-Strom 650 XT while the 2018 editions of Gixxer and Gixxer SF were also introduced.

TVS Motors has reported a 27% increase in sales in November 2018. During the past month the company sales stood at 3,19,965 units, up from 2,51,965 units sold in November 2017. Total two wheeler sales increased 26% to 3,07,142 units as against 2,43,323 units sold in November 2018 while on the domestic front two wheeler sales increased 28% from 203,138 units in November 2017 to 260,253 units in November 2018. Taking only scooter sales into account, the company reported a 43% increase with 1,11,763 scooters sold in November 2018 as compared to 78,397 units sold in the same month of the previous year. Motorcycle sales also surged 29% to 1,19,883 units in the past month as compared to 93,202 units sold in November 2017. In terms of total exports, TVS Motors reported a 24% increase from 47,207 units exported in November 2017 to 58,476 units in the past month. Two wheeler exports surged by 17% to 46,889 units in the past month as compared to 40,185 units exported in November 2017.

Royal Enfield registered sales of 65,026 units in the month of Nov 2018. This was a decline of 4% as compared to 67,776 units sold in Nov 2017. Exports too declined from 2350 to 718 units – declining by a massive 69%. Total sales declined from 70126 units to 65744 units last month. Royal Enfield sales last month were affected by workers strike at the manufacturing plant in Chennai.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India reported sales of 4.85 lakh units in the month of Nov 2018. This when compared to company sales in Nov 2017, is an increase of about 12%. In Noc 2017, Honda registered sales of 4.37 lakh units.
