Two wheeler sales Oct 2019 – Honda Activa beats Hero Splendor

As with all months, the battle for top two two-wheelers sold in October 2019 continues to be a two-way battle between Honda Activa and Hero Splendor. Activa sales were up at 2,81,273 units at the top of the table, up 7.24 percent from 2,62,260 units sold in October 2018 managing to get on top spot of the sales chart. That’s an increase of 19,013 units in volume. MoM sales growth was positively up at 12.99 percent, up about 32k units from 2,48,939 units sold the month earlier.

Hero Splendor sales slipped to 2,64,137 units, down 1.57 percent from 2,68,377 units sold a year earlier. Volume contracted by 4,240 units. MoM sales growth is at 7.96 percent up from 2,44,667 units sold in September 2019. For both manufacturers, their top sellers are raking in the moolah month after month, for years at an end. And despite a period of sales contraction, two wheeler sales decline has been less steep, and in some cases has continued to remain marginally in the green.

Hero HF Deluxe retains third spot on the list at sales decline is reported at 7.26 percent down to 1,85,751 units, down from 2,00,312 units sold in Oct 2018. Bajaj Pulsar sales growth is reported at 5.69 percent up at 95,509 units from 90,363 units sold a year earlier. Volume growth is a mere 5,146 units but every unit counts at such times of market turmoil. MoM sales growth is up at 40.31 percent up from 68,068 units sold in September 2019.

Honda CB Shine (now known as SP 125 in its BS6 avatar) sales contracted by 3,576 units. Sales fell 3.92 percent, down to 87,743 units from 91,319 units. TVS Jupiter sales lost big time at 27 percent, down to 74,560 units down from 1,02,132 units sold in October 2018. Sales however is a wee bit better than the low volume of 69,049 units.

Bajaj Platina sales fell by 4.86 percent down to 70,466 units, down from 74,064 units. This however is a lot better than the 43,978 sold the month prior. Bajaj CT100 sales fell a whopping 34.37 percent, down to 61,483 units from 82,357 units. Sales the month earlier was just as dismal, if not more at 51,778 units.

TVS Luna XL Super sales fell noticeably at 26.94 percent, down to 60,174 units from 82,357 units. At a time, not so long ago, the company was able to sell a lakh units of these mopeds in some months. Suzuki Access gained 18.77 percent, up at 53,552 units from 45,090 units. MoM sales gained 6.76 units, up from 50,162 units sold in September 2019.

In all, the top 10 bikes sold, account for 12,34,648 units sold. That’s a loss of about 75k units, down 5.75 percent from 13,09,950 units sold a year earlier. Despite a month of slowdown, performance was noticeably better than the month earlier. MoM sales gain is reported ta 10.44 percent, up from 11,17,948 units sold in September 2019.
