UM Renegade Commando and Sport price reduced – Thanks to GST

UM Motorcycles, a joint venture between US based UM International and Lohia Auto has extensive plans for India. Launched last year, the company has already seen bookings of over 4,000 units as on date.

Earlier this year, thanks to implementation of BS4 – UM India announced price hike of both their motorcycles on sale in India. The Renegade Commando and the Renegade Sport with BS4 and EFI tech will cost you in the range of INR 2 lakh, on road. But now, thanks to implementation of GST, prices of both these bikes have been reduced.

Speaking about sales, the company expects to sell 12,000 units this financial year, while they target sales to the extent of 40,000 units by FY18. Expansion of dealership base is also on the cards agreements signed with 50 dealers of which 35 dealers are set to commence sales by the end of this festive season.

Road Side Assistance

The Roadside Assistance Programme will be applicable across the entire model range of UM Motorcycles starting from 1st January 2017. The customer can reach RSA representative on the toll-free number 18001021942.

The program will offer UM Motorcycles customers benefits like assistance in case of a road accident, human error & problems related to the dead/flat battery. In case the covered vehicle is immobilised due to an empty fuel tank and/or contaminated fuel, arrangement for supply of up to 1 litre of fuel will be made(Out of Fuel will be upto1 litre only once in coverage period). Other benefits include lost keys or broken vehicle keys, puncture, bolts or valve related issues at any time and any place. Under the 24X7 Roadside Assistance Programme, a vehicle is covered from the moment; a customer takes the delivery of the vehicle.

What more?

Other innovative plans for UM Motorcycles include beginning manufacture of engines in India itself as against the current scenario wherein imported parts from foreign markets are assembled in the country. Increasing localization level will help the company price their products more competitively.

Set to enhance its presence in the mid premium biking segment, UM Motorcycles has planned investments to the extent of INR 50 crores to start manufacturing of engines in India. As on date, UM bikes on sale in India has 40-50% local components, which will be extended to 60-70% by next financial year.

Exports

Exports to ASEAN markets are also set to commence shortly with first motorcycles making their way to Nepal and Bangladesh. UM Motorcycles currently has Renegade Commando and Renegade Sports in its lineup offered in the 300-cc segment. These are priced at INR 1.49 lakhs and INR 1.59 lakhs, respectively. In March 2017, Classic Renegade will be added to the list while the company plans a new model every six months.
