The UM Renegade Sport S cruiser has been unveiled at the EICMA 2015. The compact cruiser is expected to make its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2016 before going on sale.
The American motorcycle maker has tied up with Lohia Motors for its Indian operations. The company would be setting up a factory locally to keep the costs at bay.
The Renegade Sport S is powered by a single-cylinder liquid-cooled 279 cc motor which generates 26.6 PS and 22.76 Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a 6-speed transmission.
To be positioned as premium compact cruiser, the Sport S features headlamp fairing, dual tone paint job, a slender fuel tank with air intake pods, low slung tailpiece and a simple exhaust canister. The engine, alloy wheels and suspension components are finished in black.
The Renegade Sport S is suspended by telescopic fork by Gabriel upfront and twin coil spring shock absorbers at the rear. The front (17-inch) and rear (15-inch) wheels are wrapped in 110 and 140 section TVS tyres respectively. The front wheel is retarded by means of a single disc while the rear wheel makes do with drum brake.
The UM Renegade Sport S will be positioned as a more powerful alternative to the newly launched Bajaj Avengers. Expect the price tag to be under INR 1.5 lakhs.
