The Indian two wheeler industry is gearing up to welcome the festive season with quite a few interesting launches in the month of October. Here is a quick preview.
New Bajaj Avenger
New Avenger will be launched in the first half of this month. (Photo Credit: Mohan Kumar)As the Indian premium motorcycle segment (starting from 200 cc) is posting impressive growth, Bajaj has decided to refurbish its compact displacement cruiser, the Avenger. The motorcycle which is expected to be available in three different variants is likely to use the Pulsar 200 NS’ 199.5 cc liquid-cooled carbureted engine. On board the street fighter, the motor is good for 23.52 PS and 18.3 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The spyshots indicate that the new Avenger will get body decals, alloy wheels, etc. The old 180 cc and 220 cc variants could also continue to be offered.
Hero Maestro Edge
The flagship Hero scooter will go on sale on October 13.Hero Motocorp has already announced the prices of its flagship scooter which starts at INR 49,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The scooter is based on the company’s first homegrown platform and is powered by a brand new 110.9 cc air-cooled engine which is mated to a CVT to produce 8.3 PS and 8.3 Nm of torque. The Maestro Edge has a mileage of 65.8 kmpl. Salient features include Integrated braking, USB charger, external fuel filler, side stand indicator, service due reminder and LED taillights. Sales will commence on October 13.
Hero Duet
Hero Duet will follow its sibling to the market, probably towards the end of October.The Duet is an all-metal unisex derivative of the same platform that underpins the premium Maestro Edge. Aimed at masses, the Duet adopts a conservative design. Equipment include Integrated Braking, side stand and service due reminders and external fuel filler cap. One can also specify the duet with USB mobile charger. The power and torque figures are identical to its sibling but owing to its heavier kerb weight, it returns a mileage of 63.8 kmpl.
Mahindra Mojo
Half a decade after its global premiere, the completely redesigned Mahindra Mojo is finally making its sales debut this month. Expected to be launched towards the end of this month, bookings have already started with pre-sale orders receiving added benefits. The 295 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine produces 27 PS and 30 Nm of torque when mated to a 6-speed transmission.
