US Air Force air drops Humvees Fast and Furious style

As a part of annual training, the US Air Forces airdropped 8 military convoy vehicles from a height of 5000 ft.

High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) or Humvee as it is popularly called have been in use by the American armed forces since 1984. Used by troops in active war zones, these vehicles are sometimes air dropped at location so that soldiers do not have to drive them through enemy territory.

The US Air Force regularly practices such air drops which are carried out with utmost precision but we can seen from the video below that accidents can occur even under the most precise of circumstances.

Even as the US Air Force regularly conducts such operations of air dropping vehicles, exercise of this nature can sometimes go wrong.

Some months earlier, the US Air Force was carrying out a similar exercise when 3 Humvees came crashed to the ground when their parachutes failed to open. The incident occurred when the US Air Force was conducting an annual exercise and the event was attended by 15 different European Nations. No one was hurt in the accident but these expensive vehicles which can cost as much as $220,000 each were completely destroyed.

The short clip has been filmed by the American Military personnel on the ground and shows exactly how the C-130 Hercules tactical airlifters dropped off the Humvee military off roaders of which 3 were completely destroyed.
