
Popular Vietnamese car manufacturer, Vinfast, is aiming to make it big in the Indian market. The company has opened sales account in India with VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs. Now, Bharat NCAP has conducted crash tests for both India-spec VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs and has published the results on their website. Let’s take a closer look.


VF6 and VF7 Bharat NCAP Crash Results
Bharat NCAP has conducted crash tests on both VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs from popular Vietnamese car brand, Vinfast. Both these electric SUVs are for the mainstream audience with VF7 being the more premium of the two. Bharat NCAP has awarded the highest 5 Star crash safety ratings to both VF6 and VF7.


Starting with VF6, the awarded Bharat NCAP ratings are applicable to all three of its variants – Earth, Wind and Sky. The weight of tested unit is 2,252 kg and it is an India-spec unit made in Vietnam’s new Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu. It comes with front, side and even knee airbag as standard.
It also gets ESC and seat belt reminders as standard as well. Where test results are concerned, VF6 scored full fat 5 Stars from Bharat NCAP. Vinfast VF6 managed to secure 27.13 / 32 points in adult occupant protection and 44.41 / 49 points in child occupant protection. Driver’s chest protection is weak and driver’s right shin protection is marginal.


VF7, on the other hand, is a larger vehicle and the test unit weighed 2,493 kg. It was also an India-spec unit made in India at Vinfast’s new Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu. Ratings are applicable to both of its variants – Wind and Sky. Just like its smaller brother, VF7 comes with front, side and knee airbags as standard while packing safety features like ESC and seatbelt reminders.


Ratings-wise, VF7 performed better in Bharat NCAP’s crash tests than VF6. Adult occupant protection score was 28.54 / 32 points, while it was 45.25 / 49 points in child occupant safety ratings. Protection for driver’s chest is weak, but driver’s right shin protection is adequate, which was only marginal with VF6.
