Volkswagen donates proceeds of IPL Edition Vento and IPL Memorabilia to WWF
It is a matter of Cricket, a Car and a Cause for Volkswagen as the special IPL Edition Vento is being signed by the captain of all 9 teams that featured in the IPL this year. The curtains will soon come down on the IPL but Volkswagen has something in store for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). This special Volkswagen Vento was auctioned and the proceeds donated to WWF – India.
Top cricketers such as Lasith Malinga, Virender Sehwag, Sunil Gavaskar and Chris Gayle donated their cricketing possessions for the auction and this noble cause. The online auction of the Vento and memorabilia was held on Monday. Elated at the response, Neeraj Garg, Member of the Board and Director of VW Passenger Cars said that the company is keeping up with their Think Blue campaign and have been contributing to WWF – India for the past two IPLs. They will continue in their endeavor to support and preserve nature.
The luxurious Volkswagen Vento could be seen throughout the IPL with the signatures of all nine captains on its bonnet and was finally handed over to Dr. Manisha Bobade at the function which also saw Lutz Kothe, Head of marketing and PR, Volkswagen Passenger cars and Dr. John Chacko President and MD of Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd. present at the handing over ceremony.

Mumbai, May 22, 2012: With curtains to soon come down on another year of a very successful association with IPL, Europe’s leading automobile manufacturer, Volkswagen would once again be donating proceeds from the online auction of the IPL Edition Vento to World Wide Fund for Nature – India (WWF – India).
However this year the Brand has further extended its support towards the conservation organization by exclusively putting up for auction the cricketing possessions of IPL stars like Lasith Malinga, Virender Sehwag and Chris Gayle at an event held here in Pune. The proceeds from this auction will also be donated to WWF – India.
