Volkswagen Group grabs 28 awards this year, Audi cars 15, Skoda cars 4 and VW cars 9

The year 2012 has barely begun but it has already brought in a host of awards for Volkswagen Group India. At 7 of the recent Auto Awards Ceremonies the company picked up 28 awards. Audi was credited with 15 of these awards of which 6 were received by Audi’s premium luxury sedan A8 while Skoda won 4 awards all for their newly launched mid-sized sedan Rapid.

Speaking of the number of awards received Dr. John Chacko, President and Managing Director and Volkswagen Group’s Chief Representative India said that he was happy at the recognition received on the company offering during 2011. Their excellent sales figures along with awards shows that the company is moving ahead with sales and customer satisfaction as their main perspective. This also shows that not only customers but the entire auto industry is appreciative of their products

Mr. Maik Stephan, Managing Director at VW Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd also said that the company achieved excellent sales figures during 2011. He also praised the performance of Audi A8 and Jetta which were two cars that received the maximum number of awards.

Volkswagen Group India starts 2012 on a winning note

·   Won total of 28 awards at 7 Auto Awards Ceremonies held recently

Pune, February 15, 2011 – Volkswagen Group India continued its stellar performance and won 28 awards at 7 recently held Auto Awards ceremonies. Audi won 15 awards this year out of which A8 grabbed 6 awards and ŠKODA won 4 awards for the new Rapid. Volkswagen won 9 awards of which 6 were bagged by the Jetta.

On winning the awards, Dr. John Chacko, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India and President and Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private Limited said, “I am pleased that the Volkswagen Group has won prestigious awards for our offerings in 2011. Volkswagen Vento did not win a single award. Recently VW Vento midsized sedan was involved in an incident where it caught fire when the owner tried to turn the car on. Within seconds the car was on fire with the owner trapped inside. Passersby rescued the owner, but he succumbed to burn related injuries. The incident took place in the same city where Volkswagen India’s manufacturing plant is located – Pune.
