Volkswagen Group US sees 28% sales growth during May 2012

The month of May has proved to be profitable for Volkswagen Group with a 28% increase of overall sales during the month. This month of May 2012 has proved to be the best month of May ever since 1973. The company sold 38,657 units resulting in a growth of 28.4%, while sales of Passat far exceed the 10,000 limit for the third month in a row to reach 10,178 units. Volkswagen Jetta too reached a sales pitch of 12,962 units.

YoY increase stood at 35.7% and the company is ecstatic with customer response primarily due to their strong lineup, high quality of vehicles and better level of fuel efficiency which is what customers are more vigilant about in recent times. The company expects this growth trend to continue and is looking forward with optimism.

It was only yesterday that the company announced the production of 100,000th Passat from the Volkswagen Chattanooga Plant. It has been nine months since the Volkswagen Passat went on sale and a Night Blue Metallic 2.0 liter TDI SEL Premium was the 100,000 model to roll out from the company’s Chattanooga, Tennessee plant. The company is proud of reaching this milestone so soon since the car went on sale in September 2011 which only proves its performance both in the US and abroad.
