These are the four new cars Volkswagen India will launch by 2016

Volkswagen India’s upcoming products will range from a sub 4 meter sedan to a premium SUV.

Starting with a compact sedan, Volkswagen India will launch four new cars in order to remain competitive.

Volkswagen Polo CS

Volkswagen Polo Compact Sedan – A new compact sedan based on the Polo platform will be launched by January 2016. It will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. Price will remain competitive in the Rs 6-8 lakh bracket. Known internally as India Compact Sedan, VW India could name it Bora. Rivals include Tata Zest, Maruti DZire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent.

Volkswagen Passat

2016 Volkswagen Passat – Volkswagen India is also planning to launch next generation Passat. 2016 VW Passat will be based on an MQB platform and will be around 85 kgs lighter than its earlier counterpart. New Passat Indian spec model will be powered by a 2.0 liter TDI diesel engine mated to a 7 speed DSG automatic transmission offering 180 PS power and 400 Nm torque while local assembly is being planned. It will be priced in the range of Rs 32-35 lakhs.

Volkswagen Beetle Pink Edition

Volkswagen Beetle – One of their most iconic cars, the new Volkswagen Beetle will make a compack to India, after it got discontinued a couple of years ago. VE will launch Beetle as a halo offering in the country. Based on the Jetta’s PQ35 platform, the new Beetle will compete with the Mercedes A Class and BMW 1 series and will hence be positioned in the same price bracket of around INR 35 lakhs.

Volkswagen Tiguan

Volkswagen Tiguan – Fourth car in the list is VW Tiguan premium SUV. Once launched in India it will compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, and Hyundai Santa Fe. To be available in 5 and 7 seater options, it will be based on the VW MQB platform. The new Tiguan will be priced between INR 22-26 lakhs.

Apart from gearing up for launch of these four models, VW India is also enhancing sales and service networks across the country. The company is revamping its dealership network and introducing a host of new facilities which will augment dealership experience and quality of services provided.
