Volkswagen India has officially teased its 2026 product roadmap, and the image shared by the brand clearly shows five vehicles under wraps. This strongly indicates that Volkswagen is gearing up for one of its most aggressive product offensives in India in recent years, covering SUVs, sedans and electric mobility. Based on official confirmations, past announcements and ongoing developments, here’s a look at what these five models are likely to be.
Flagship SUV: Volkswagen Tayron R-Line
Leading the charge will be the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, which is already revealed for India. Positioned as Volkswagen’s flagship ICE SUV, Tayron R-Line will be a three-row offering brought via the CKD route. It will replace the Tiguan Allspace and sit above Tiguan in the lineup, targeting rivals like Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian. Expect premium interiors, sporty R-Line styling and a powerful 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine.

Core Models Get Facelifts: Virtus and Taigun
Two of the covered silhouettes are expected to be facelifts of Volkswagen’s core volume models. The Volkswagen Virtus facelift is likely to bring refreshed styling, new features, helping the sedan stay competitive against newer rivals like the Hyundai Verna and updated Skoda Slavia – both of which are also due for an update in coming weeks.
Alongside it will be the Volkswagen Taigun facelift. With the midsize SUV segment becoming more competitive following recent arrival / announcement of Sierra, Seltos, Kushaq, Duster and Tekton – the Taigun update is expected to add features such as a panoramic sunroof, enhanced interiors, etc; addressing some of the gaps in the current model.

Volkswagen’s First Mainstream EV: ID.4
Another key highlight of the teaser is expected to be the Volkswagen ID.4. This will mark Volkswagen’s first serious electric SUV for the Indian market, likely introduced via the CBU route. Positioned below luxury EVs but above mass-market electric SUVs, ID.4 will play a crucial role in VW’s EV strategy and signal a more committed push towards electric mobility in India.

Entry-Level Volume Driver: VW Tera (Kylaq-based SUV)
The fifth model is expected to be a sub-4m SUV, widely rumoured to be called Volkswagen Tera. Based on the same MQB-A0-IN platform as Skoda Kylaq, this model will be Volkswagen’s most affordable SUV in India and a critical volume generator. It will take on rivals like Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.
Big Picture: Volkswagen’s Strongest India Push Yet
Mr. Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said, “Today, we are glad to showcase the Tayron R-Line for the first time in India. I am also delighted to announce that we have planned four more product interventions throughout the year. This year, every quarter will witness a new product intervention that will cater to a different premium customer set. Our objective is to continue building excitement for customers through smart product actions and introducing models that will continue to build aspirations.”
This strategy allows Volkswagen to cover every major segment, from entry-level SUVs to premium ICE models and EVs. If executed well, 2026 could mark a turning point for Volkswagen India, both in terms of volumes and brand positioning. All eyes are now on the first launch of the year, with the Tayron R-Line set to kick things off and give a clearer picture of Volkswagen’s renewed ambitions for the Indian market.
