Volkswagen India organized an immersive test drive for customers. Their dream fleet included all vehicles on offer in the country – Polo, Vento, Ameo, GTI, Tiguan and the all-new Passat. With all eyes on Auto Expo 2018, Volkswagen used the biggest India Auto show as a backdrop for an exciting morning drive. On 9th February, Volkswagen invited select customers through dealerships in the NCR region to join them on a drive to Auto Expo.
Volkswagen Legendary Test Drive to 2018 Auto Expo followed a 30km route starting at Great India Palace mall. The 30 km drive came to life with a 30 car convoy. With the drive scheduled at 10:00 am, the allotted parking lot starting filling up in the hour up to the drive. The warm winter sun on our backs, hot cups of tea, and sandwiches got us on our feet. A few quick interactions, interviews, and signing up for the drive kept us occupied for the greater part of our time. A quick inspection of the cars and choosing which car we were going to drive that morning kept us fully engrossed for the remainder of the morning.
Evelyn Sharma joined in the fun and frolic, and interacted with all who’d braved the winter morn ready to get a glimpse of the best the Indian automotive industry was showcasing. Following a quick photo op and flag off by Evelyn, the fleet was ready to take everyone on Yamuna Expressway by surprise.
With a slowdown scheduled along the way so the fleet could regroup just before getting on the highway, we kept on the slow lane for the remainder of the drive.
As part of this innovative drive experience, we were given keys to a brand new Volkswagen Tiguan. Launched just a few months ago, the new Tiguan SUV is one of the most equipped and luxurious SUV you can buy in the segment today. Just ahead of the flag-off, all the participants were allotted keys to their respective cars. We soon got in our Tiguan and were ready to start the drive.
Speaking about what powers the Tiguan in India – it is powered by a 2.0 liter turbo-diesel engine which delivers an impressive 143 PS of power and 330 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 7 speed DSG transmission, which sends power to all four wheels via Volkswagen’s state of the art 4MOTION AWD system.

Soon our convoy of 30 Volkswagen cars reached its destination – India Expo Mart in Greater Noida. It is here that the largest automotive expo in Asia is taking place. All participants then got together and spent the remaining day checking the latest in the automotive industry at Auto Expo.
This was the perfect day a car enthusiast could ask for. Not only did we experience some of the best cars on the planet, but also used the occasion to interact with like-minded people and visit an auto show. All in a day’s work.
