Volkswagen Polo R Cup season finale grid position, pole position grabbed by Avdumber Hede

2011 Volkswagen Polo R Cup season finale will kick off tomorrow at the MMSC Race Track, Irungattukottai in Chennai. 25 year old Goa based, Avdumber Hede has grabbed the pole position in today’s rain marred qualifying, for tomorrow’s race, with a lap time of 1:18.051 minutes.

Avdumber Hede is currently ranked fourth on the overall season points table with 277 points. Vishnu Prasad leads the points table with 320 points, followed by Rahil Noorani with 315 points and Oshan Kothadiya with 288 points on the 3rd place.

Points are awarded to all the 20 racers in the following manner 60, 48, 40, 34, 32, 30, 28, 26, 24, 22, 20, 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2. This makes tomorrow’s race quite interesting as all the top four drivers are still in contention to win the 2011 Volkswagen Polo R Cup Championship.

On grabbing the pole, Avdumber said, “Today’s conditions were probably the hardest I have ever driven in but am happy that I was able to put the car on pole position. I know I still have an outside chance of winning the championship but my main goal is to win the race tomorrow and see what happens from there. Hopefully I can get a great start and try to control the race from there.”

On the other hand second placed, Vishnu said, “Qualifying was really tough as the conditions deteriorated during the session. The start will be crucial for me tomorrow so will do the best to have a quick getaway. Hopefully conditions tomorrow will be better and we can have a dry race. My aim since the beginning of the year has been to win the championship and I will tackle the race with this in mind.”
