Volkswagen Sport Coupe Concept GTE debuts in Geneva (Update – LIVE images)
Based on the MQB platform, Volkswagen Sport Coupe Concept GTE is a sleek looking sports saloon that utilizes a plug-in hybrid powertrain along with a 3.0 liter V6 TSI gasoline engine and electric motor offering total output of 380 PS power.
The concept can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 kmph. In pure electric mode, the Sports Coupe Concept GTE has a drive range of 50 kms while in combined mode of 1000 kms. Fuel efficiency stands at 2 liters/100 km.
Measuring 4,869mm in length, 1,407mm in height and 1,864mm in width,Volkswagen Sport Coupe Concept GTE sits on a wheelbase of 3,020mm due to which interiors measure 1,872mm resulting in increased space both in driver section and in the passenger area. Trunk capacity stands at 480 liters. Overhangs are at 909mm in the front and 1,120mm at the rear. Exteriors are dominated by well designed headlights, radiator grille and an elongated hood and sloping roofline while the concept rides on five spoke 21” alloy wheels.
Highlight being its panoramic sliding sunroof, Volkswagen Sport Coupe Concept GTE sports a large touchscreen display and a host of technology, connectivity and convenience features in its four passenger cabin. These include a 12.3” 3D digital gauge cluster, 10.1” central console touchscreen and 12.3” touchscreen for passengers at the rear located between seats besides seat mounted touchscreens for entertainment. The VW GTE also uses biometric data from smartphones and watches to determine navigation, climate, music and light setting as per occupant’s mood.
