Volkswagen has released a fresh teaser hinting at an upcoming SUV for the Indian market, with the brand simply stating “Coming Soon”. The teaser visuals show a large SUV draped in a white veil, with the LED headlights and LED DRL light signatures clearly illuminated at both the front and rear. Even under the cover, the silhouette and lighting elements point towards a premium, three-row SUV, widely believed to be the Volkswagen Tayron.

VW Tayron SUV India Launch Soon

This teaser follows multiple sightings of the Tayron testing on Indian roads over the past few months. In earlier spy shots, the SUV was seen without camouflage and wearing Tayron badging, strengthening the likelihood that Volkswagen may retain the Tayron nameplate for India instead of reviving the Tiguan Allspace branding. The Tayron effectively replaces the second-generation Tiguan Allspace in global markets and sits above the standard Tiguan in Volkswagen’s SUV lineup.

From the teaser, the illuminated full-width LED elements at the front and rear stand out, matching what has been seen on test mules so far. The rear light bar and distinctive tail lamp signature appear different from the India-spec Volkswagen Tiguan R Line, reinforcing that this is not just a stretched Tiguan but a more differentiated product. The overall proportions visible under the cover also hint at a longer wheelbase, aligned with the Tayron’s three-row layout.

Globally, the Tayron is positioned as a more spacious SUV, offering a usable third row and a larger boot. Boot space starts at around 345 litres with all three rows up and can expand significantly when the third row is folded. Design-wise, while it shares similarities with the Tiguan, the Tayron gets revised bumpers, a unique grille treatment, and a different LED lighting signature, all of which are expected to carry over to the India-spec version.

For India, the Tayron is expected to be offered in a sportier R Line avatar, as suggested by earlier sightings that showed R badging and alloy wheels similar to those on the Tiguan R Line. Inside, it is likely to mirror the Tiguan’s cabin in terms of layout, technology, and features, while offering additional space and flexibility for family buyers.

Engine Specs Expected

Powering the Volkswagen Tayron in India is expected to be the familiar 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that also does duty in the Skoda Kodiaq. This motor produces around 204 bhp and 320 Nm and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, along with Volkswagen’s all-wheel-drive system. There is also a strong possibility of the Tayron being locally assembled at the SAVWIPL facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, similar to the Kodiaq.

With this new teaser, Volkswagen has clearly signalled its intent to re-enter the premium three-row SUV space in India — a gap that opened up after the discontinuation of Tiguan Allspace in 2021. More details, including the official name, variant strategy and launch timeline, are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks as Volkswagen builds anticipation around its next big SUV for India.
