Volvo redefining luxury car travel – Meet New S90 Excellence

Volvo has just announced two new variants of the S90 – S90 Long Wheelbase and S90 Excellence. The first one is for the Chinese market, while the latter, which is based on the former, will be sold across the globe. Volvo Cars has also revealed that the production of their S90 series has now been shifted to China from Sweden.

This means, all models under the S90 series will be manufactured only in China. It is from China that it will be exported to the world.

Some of the features of top of the line S90 Excellence are panoramic roof, folding work tables, adjustable foot rests, built in refrigerator compartment and heated and cooled cup holders. The biggest change in its interiors will be the removal of the front passenger seat which is now replaced by a Lounge Console. Handmade crystal glasses from Orrefors, Sweden, built in entertainment system and a large display will also be a part of its onboard comforts. Volvo’s new S90 variants also get smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

This range-topping Volvo S90 sedan will enter production next year when it will be produced at the Volvo plant in Daqing, China. Sales will commence both in domestic markets and in the US making it the second China made Volvo model to be exported to global markets, the first being the S60 Inscription.

Volvo S90 LWB will be presented in a choice of two engine options, offered in three trims – T4, T5 gasoline engines and a T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid powertrain. The S90 Excellence will be sold exclusively as a plug-in hybrid with its hybrid powertrain combined with a 316 hp twincharged 2.0 liter four cylinder engine sending power to front wheels.

Volvo S90s will sport a host of standard safety features that include detection of large animals on the road and prevent collision or lessens the impact. It also receives Volvo’s semi autonomous driver assistance system at speeds upto 130 kmph.
