The car which made its world premiere at the 2016 NAIAS in January has arrived in India in style. Priced from INR 53.5 lakh, ex-showroom Mumbai, it comes with all bells and whistles, making a bold statement in the segment.
Positioned as a more premium alternative to the likes of Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Jaguar XF, the S90 is imported into India as a CBU.
The flagship Volvo sedan comes as a bigger and upmarket replacement of the old S80. Based on Volvo’s new Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA) which also underpins the new XC90, the S90 benefits from economies of scale.
The brand’s latest philosophy which is characterised by taut surfaces and sharp elements render a sophisticated stance. The signature chrome finished grille, sleek LED headlamps with “Thor’s Hammer” daytime running lights and distinct LED taillights are the design highlights.
Inside, the dashboard design and layout borrow heavily from the new XC90. A massive centre console display for the infotainment system eliminates the need for several buttons. The cabin is finished in leather with wooden appointments.
