New Volvo XC90, which went on sale in India last year has been regaled globally for its elevated level of occupant protection and safety features. Now, Euro NCAP has awarded the XC90 a prestigious award of – Best in Class. XC90 received this award after scoring well in all four sections of adult protection, child protection, pedestrian safety and safety assistance system. It has to be noted here that in safety systems, XC90 was awarded a 100% rating.
Having to compete against the likes of Audi Q7, Mercedes GL Class and BMW X5, the Volvo XC90 also scored 100% in Safety Assist and a top score in two Autonomous Emergency Braking tests. It also features advanced pedestrian protection. Volvo is the first automaker to have exceeded the criteria laid down by Euro NCAP.
Volvo XC90 is the company’s flagship SUV. It is a part of the company’s Vision 2020 in which the Swedish automaker aims to address safety standards with a goal of creating cars that do not crash and wherein no one is seriously injured or killed.
